We just love it when we find our customers talking about us. We recently watched some folks on RC Groups discuss Bob Smith (BSI) Adhesives versus that of our competitors. It was great to sit and silently watch as they promoted BSI adhesives without any prompting from us.
We've changed the names to protect the innocent. We also don't believe in putting down our competitors so we changed their names too. We think our customer's words are our best promotion. See for yourself:

THE OTHER Adhesive's
Question.
I purchased 2 bottles of the medium can last year and it just wouldn't set. Emailed with no response.
Well thinking maybe I just got some LHS old stock or a bad batch I thew them away.
Well the LHS was out of my reg brand Bob Smith so I settled for THE OTHER it is same. Slow no set too. I just can't trust it for a
long term bond in a critical area.
Objectively. Maybe they have different properties and reactions and I'm just
used to one. Although the GP and BS are Transparently interchangeable
Anyone use THE OTHER Adhesives CA?

I've found the same thing. I had been using THE OTHER for several
years and was happy with it. A few months ago, I found that their (THE OTHER) Medium
CA was very slow to set and the bond was weak when it eventually did.
Also, I found the shelf life was very short - it thickened up in the
bottle after just a month or so.
I've changed to Bob Smith CA and am very pleased with that.
Maybe THE OTHER just had a bad batch a while ago, or my LHS sold me old
stock, but if I can't trust the stuff I won't be using it any more.

That's why I tried calling and emailing (no reply). To give them
a heads up. (No refund or replacement needed). I'm 3 bottle down - as
in trash now. Just surprised. Maybe more than isolated... But that
was why I tried reaching out.

I tried THE OTHER when it first came out and had the same type of
results as reported here. I switched back to Bob Smith. As I'm
allergic to regular CA, I have to use the 'user friendly' stuff and it
is too expensive to be buying crap that is no good. My personal opinion
is that THE OTHER is just a lot of marketing hype and tried to corner the
market with a truly inferior product.

THE OTHER was good when they first came out. I tried them and liked it.
Their biggest contribution was the style of top they introduced. Like it, especially for med CA.
But, I use Bob Smith stuff since it is handy for me to buy (at the LHS).
I also use the odorless stuff and accelerator. Shelf life for all
depends on exposure to humidity.

I too liked THE OTHER as it was said to be made in the USA, and
liked the bottle top. I tried a few bottles. First few I picked up at
Toledo when they first came out. Appeared to be just as good as Bob
Smith or ANOTHER COMPETITOR, but I liked the cap system they had better...until the pin
came loose from the cap and stuck in the nozzle with 1/2 still stuck in
the bottle, and no hope of getting the pin out.
I then got another 2 bottles (1 thin, one med) a few years later. Both
turned yellow a few days after opening. I keep my CA in a large plastic
container with silica beads. My older Bob Smith stuff was still good.
I don't even use the caps when I store the CA in the container with the
silica beads, so the THE OTHER'S cap ended up being no advantage to me.
Sticking (pardon the pun) with Bob Smith and ANOTHER COMPETITOR.

Good idea on the storage. I buy small bottles as needed open
them. ANOTHER COMPETITOR was always good too.. Just LHS doesn't carry it. The
BSmith tips are fine. I just keep them clean (best I can).
But yeah, no reply whiched surprised me by my impression of their
advertising. I'm all for an American company being prosperous. So not
bashing ... But concerned enough to check before I buy any more. We
are fortunate to have 2 really good hobby shops here. One that I bought
from when I was a kid (I'm 50 now) and one that is newer to the area
but the owner owner one in South fL for years before relocating here to
be near their children. Both carry Bob Smith products and one carries THE OTHER also.

I "won" some of THE OTHER'S CA at a recent fun fly along with some other
goodies. Well, I must have got the opposite from what you guys did,
because when i went to use it the stuff was solid as a rock inside the
bottle! I'll stick with my old stand by BSI CA, the stuff works great
& I really like their bottle tips.
